Progress Update
Wednesday, March 24, 2010 at 11:22PM I am 82 days into business now, having registered as self-employed as of 1 January 2010. I’ve not jumped ship completely, I’m still a full time, overpaid, faceless bureaucrat from nine to five. But signing those forms is a big step along the road to 2012 when I fully intend to walk away from Westminster, camera in hand.
So far I have three confirmed weddings and one “possible” which is ideal as my target for 2010 was to shoot four. Part 1 of the business plan is working.
2010 is also about the push for 2011 clients but until I get that portfolio burgeoning I’m in suspension. No problem, because there’s plenty to keep us occupied, including the birth of our first baby in May.
There’s DIY to be done in preparation. Painting the bedroom, building the cot, building a desk for Joanna to work at… Plus, an IKEA shelf, replete with two dozen paperbacks, decided to eject itself from the wall the other morning, leaving scars in the plaster as deep as those in my already-fragile “we don’t need to get a man in to do that” sense of masculinity.
So until wedding season, our beautiful guinea pigs continue to provide the photographic subject. The image above is of Jeanie, who is recovering from a mysterious illness which has seen her loose an alarming amount of weight over the last six weeks (100g is alarming for such a slight creature). Happily, she’s getting back to her old self and still loves to pose for the camera. Got to love that pig.
