Wedding photography at The Secret Garden, Ashford, Kent

I had the pleasure of photographing the wedding of Kim and John at The Secret Garden near Ashford in Kent earlier this month. A unique occasion at a great location, with a fun bride and groom and guests who were fun to work with. Thank you to all involved.

From a photography point of view, this was an interesting wedding to shoot. Kentish bylaws meant the actual ceremony had to be held beneath the canopy on the narrow patio outside, so working around the bride and groom up close meant a wide angle lens, shooting into the sun. The large lawn and marquee in the garden for the reception and wedding breakfast allowed me to open out a bit and get some nice long lens stuff, hopefully whilst I was keeping out of the way of the guests enjoying their post-ceremony drinks! The pink Rolls Royce Kim arrived in apparently used to belong to Shirley Bassey. Later in the evening, the guests enjoyed a rare wedding performance by a unique jazz ensemble whose name I didn’t get unfortunately, but the music was great and suited Kim and John and this occasion perfectly.

A full sample of images from this wedding is available in the Gallery. A smaller selection is included below. Enjoy.
